The film is set against the imposing backdrop of the ruins of the Abbey of Saint Galgano (13th century) and of the mystic interiors of the Hermitage of Montesiepi (12th century) in Tuscany. This place also owes its charm to the similarity between the legend of the Saint and the Arthurian myth of The Sword in the Stone. According to legend, Galgano, a knight who is said to have led a ruthless life in his early years, decided to convert to the secluded life of a hermit here, in these places. He thrust his sword in the stone forever, which later became a symbol of peace, wisdom and harmony.

Two great Italian fencers are the duelists in the film: Elisa di Francisca, two-time Olympic gold medalist in London in 2012, and Enrico Garozzo, who won silver at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Representing an ancient art form that boasts a winning tradition in Italy, in this story, the two champions play the role of duelists fighting an eternal battle who end up appreciating each other’s value and acknowledging the other as their alter ego.
